Dr. Urteaga is a graduate of Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, FL. He did his internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and residency training at Scott & White Hospital/ Texas A& M University HSC in Temple, TX. Dr. Urteaga has been in private practice in New Braunfels for 13yrs. He, his wife Dr. Maria Lomba, and their 3 children live in New Braunfels.

Dr. Urteaga has been an avid cyclist most of his adult life. He has always run to cross train, but picked up running as a sport about 4 yrs ago to be able to spend more time with his wife and family. He has now competed in multiple duathalons, 5K races, and completed several half and full marathons. Being a Podiatrist and active adult, Dr. Urteaga has a special interest in biomechanics, sports medicine and injury prevention.

Drs. Urteaga and Lomba started U-Run Specialty Running Store because they felt a need to bring quality running shoes and accessories to the New Braunfels area. They realize that proper shoe selection is an important part of the running experience and is key to injury prevention.

Maria R. Lomba, M.D. was born in Puerto Rico from which she received her medical degree. She received her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She stayed as part of the Rehabilitation Department Faculty and is currently a Clinical Professor at UTHSC in San Antonio until 1999 when she moved with her family to New Braunfels and started her private practice. She is board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This specialty specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation emphasizes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders - particularly related to the nerves, muscles, and bones - that may produce temporary or permanent impairment.

Dr. Lomba lives in New Braunfels with her husband, Alex and together they have three children. She is the Program Director of the Jeff Galloway Running Program in New Braunfels. She helps with the Cross Country and Track teams at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and John Paul II Catholic High School. She is also the Medical Director for the Chosen Marathon for Adoption in New Braunfels.

 

Brandon is currently the sales manager of U-Run. He attended Ronald Reagan High school in San Antonio, Texas where he competed in varsity track, cross country, wrestling and football throughout all four years. Initially, Brandon began his college career at the University of Texas in San Antonio where he ran track and was on the UTSA rock climbing team; he then transferred to Texas State University in San Marcos his sophomore year. At Texas State he was actively involved in the Exercise Sports Science club and directed multiple physical education camps for kids. In December 2009, Brandon graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science degree in Health and Fitness Management and a Minor in Business Administration.

Brandon enjoys all types of physical activity and loves the outdoors. He has a passion for helping others, especially when it's preparing them to meet their fitness goals and running events.
